Home parenteral nutrition

Total Parenteral Nutrition is also called TPN or infusion nutrition. TPN is sterile, liquid food that is transported directly into the bloodstream by infusion. It can be administered if your small intestine cannot absorb enough nutrients, moisture and salt to grow. If you need long-term TPN, it is administered at home. In the Netherlands there are about 80 children who get TPN at home.
