Spina bifida

Spina Bifida (also called 'open back') occurs in the first four weeks of pregnancy. With Spina Bifida, the construction of the spinal cord does not develop well. As a result, the surrounding tissues cannot close properly. Muscles, adipose tissue and skin around the spinal cord may be missing and the nerve tissue is not well developed. There are two types of spina bifida, namely the occulta (hidden) and the aperta (open).
